Then Commercial Manager, Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT), Mr. Richard Akinbosotu has denied a report credited to him in one of the Maritime Journals describing it as false, malicious and capable of causing disharmony in the industry.
Akinbosotu who made this known in a press release he issued recently, a copy of which was obtained by Primetime Reporters stated that the Journal which quoted him as accusing the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Abdullahi Inde of attempting to illegally move about 155 containers from Tincan Island Container Terminal without due process was entirely lies and falsehood fabricated to suit the evil intentions of the reporter.
He maintained that neither himself nor the TICT had accused the Comptroller General of Customs of attempting to fly 155 containers from their facility adding that it was important that reporters verify their facts to avoid misleading the public.
According to him, “ my attention has been drawn to a publication in a Maritime Journal where I was said to have accused the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Abdullahi Inde of attempting to move about 155 containers from Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT) without due process”.
“The report contains in its entirety total lies and falsehood fabricated to suit the evil machinations of the writer”.
“At no point in time did I or TICT accused the Customs Comptroller General of “attempting to fly 155 containers” from our facility. It is important that reporters cross-check their facts to avoid misleading the public”, the release read.
He however noted that TICT and the Customs were partners in progress and that they would not allow those who benefit from the disharmony in the system to create one where there was none.
