The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) last Monday set up a 3-Man Committee to develop a road map on the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The decision was part of the resolutions reached at an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the association held at its new Permanent National Secretariat, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
The 3-Man Committee according to the release by the Senior Special Assistant to ANLCA President on Media, Joe Sanni and sent to Primetime Reporters via E-mail, the road map so developed by the 3-Man Committee would be discussed by the National Executive Council of the association and tabled before the Nigeria Customs Management for a review or an outright rejection of PAAR by the association.
The Committee according to the release has one week to submit its report.
It also said that at the end of the emergency meeting of NEC, it was resolved that the proposed tenure extension of the current National Executive Committee (NECOM) which was sought by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the association was rejected by majority of NEC member through vote.
It said that NECOM election must be held before the expiration of the tenure of the present administration which would be due on the 16th of April, 2014 adding that for one to be eligible to vote or be voted for, such a person must possess an evidence of payment of fifty thousand (#50,000) Naira permanent National Secretariat levy.
On the relationship among ANLCA, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, the release noted that NEC decided that ANCA should insist on its fair share of the intended collection of transaction fees in the ports.
As the BoT members expressed their gratitude to members of the association for voting them into the office at the last BoT election in Warri, Delta State, the National President of the Association, Prince Olayiwola Shittu assured the BoT of maximum cooperation in order to sustain the giant strides the association has attained.
