In its move to reposition the service for improved revenue collection, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has redeployed a total of eight Assistants Comptroller General (ACGs) and twenty-two Comptrollers of Customs amongst them, the Zonal Coordinator of Zone A, ACG Banke Adeyemo.

Primetime Reporters gathered that ACG Banke Adeyemo who was posted as the Zonal Coordinator  Zone A comprising Lagos and most south-west states barely five months ago has been redeployed to Tariff and Trade (T & T) at the Customs headquarters in Abuja.

It was said that her redeployment may not be unconnected to the failure of the zone to meet its revenue target. The zone was expected to generate about 75 per cent of the Service’s revenue target for the year.

It would be recalled that Customs witnessed a huge drop in its first quarter revenue as it collected a mere N77.9 billion as against N400 billion it was expected to collect in the first quarter of 2014.

The amount collected represents 19.5 per cent of its projected revenue for the first quarter of the year. The amount is also less than half of the N191.3 billion collected by the Service in the first quarter of 2013.

A document of the revenue profile released by the NCS indicated that N27.4 billion was collected in January, N23.8 billion in February and N26.7 billion in March.

Taking over from  her as the new Zonal Coordinator is ACG Victor Gbemudu who formerly served as the Zonal Coordinator  Zone A and was also formerly Controller in charge of Excise and Free Trade Zone and Industrial Incentives.

Others affected in the shakeup are Comptroller Shina Odumbaku who has been redeployed from Tariff and Trade to Human Resources Development (HRD) while Dan Ugo who until now was in charge of Zone C in Port Harcourt has been moved to Excise and Duty (E & D) unit.

ACG Austen Warikoru moves from Human Resources Department  to Strategic Research and Policy (SR & P) while Ade Dosunmu moves from E & D to head Zone B’ in Kaduna.

Alu S.R formerly in charge of Zone ‘B has been moved to Excise department while Mohammed A.A has also been redeploy to head Zone C from SR & P.

Controller Tunji Aremu of PTML command who was replaced by Adegoke Folorunsho had also been moved to Staff College in Abuja.

Others affected are: Abubakar .B who was moved from Post Clearance Audit unit in Lagos to headquarters, Gambo, D. S from Lagos Industrial to Zone ‘B’ headquarters, Yerima, A.G from Kaduna/ Katsina to Kano training College.

Deputy Controller Akor T.Y, Ahmed .S, Atoyebi .Y.O, Olonilua, M.A, Onwuyali, E.I, Ayah, S.T, Buba.
