SIR MIKE IYORCHIR OGWU JUKWE is the pioneer Registrar/Chief Executive of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) from 1st December, 2009 to date. The Council is a regulatory agency responsible for regulating and controlling freight forwarding in Nigeria under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
Fwdr. Sir Mike Jukwe was born on 2nd September, 1958 in Makurdi, Benue State, he hails from the Etulo tribe in Etulo District of Buruku Local Government Area, Benue State. He is married to Dame Felicia Mngunengen Jukwe, KSS with two children, a boy (Mike Jnr) and a girl (Kerry).
After his Primary and Secondary School education, Sir Mike Jukwe obtained the Graduate–ship Diploma in International Marketing (Grad.DIM) and Membership of the International Export Association, United Kingdom (MIExA) in 1984. He passed the Qualifying Examination of the Chartered Institute of Transport, United Kingdom to become a Chartered Member of the Institute (MCIT) in 1988 and was granted exemption from the National Youth Service on ground of age. He was elevated to the highest and prestigious membership grade of Fellow of the Institute (FCIT) in 1991 at the young age of 32 years. He had earlier received the Fellowship of the British Society of Commerce (FBSC) in 1984. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Public Administration (ADPA) in 2003 and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) in 2004 from the University of Abuja; the Professional Masters in Transport and Logistics (MTL) in 2007 from the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria; and the Masters in Public Administration (MPA) in 2008 from the University of Abuja. He received the Fellowship of the Institute of Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (FIFF) in 2011 and that of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (FNIS) in 2012. He has attended many courses in Nigeria and abroad, and he has travelled to over forty nations worldwide. He is a student of PhD (Transport and Logistics) of the University College of Technology, Buea in Cameroon.
He worked at the Container Terminal, Apapa Port of Lagos with Container Consultants (Nigeria) Limited, the then Container Managing Agent to Nigerian Ports Authority, resigned in 1982 as Assistant Manager, Operations to join Inland Containers (Nigeria) Limited as the first indigenous and pioneer Manager for the Kaduna Inland Container Depot.
In 1985, he was appointed the Commercial Manager and in October, 1986, he was appointed the first indigenous Northern Area Manager. In 1990, he voluntarily resigned into politics and business. In 1992, he was National Director, Youth and Organisations of Bamanga Tukur Presidential Campaign Organisation.
In 1993, he was Chief of Staff of Dr. Joseph Wayas Presidential Campaign Team. Meanwhile, from February, 1990 he managed his own business, Ashawa Consults, which served as Consultant to many organizations, including the Ecological Fund Office in The Presidency; Taraba State Government; Ministry of Defence and The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He initiated and organized the 1st National Summit on Ecology and the Environment (ECOSUM ’99), which was instrumental to the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Environment.
He joined ECOWAS Parliament in January, 2004 as the Personal Assistant to the 1st Deputy Speaker and the acting Secretary/Clerk to the Committee on Transport and Communication.
From December, 2006 to December, 2007, he was the Coordinator, Nigeria of CIMA International that was the Consultant to ECOWAS on the Feasibility Study for Interconnection of Railway Network in ECOWAS member States. He was appointed a member of the Governing Board of Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research from 2005 to 2007.
He also served as a member of the National Technical Working Group on Transport of Vision 20:2020 from April to August, 2009. He was the Consultant to ECOMARINE International, the Shipping carrier of ECOWAS before joining SDV Nigeria Limited in December, 2008 as Abuja Branch Manager, responsible for the company activities in the Northern Nigeria.
He was appointed the pioneer Registrar/CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) on 1st December, 2009 to date. He is also Chairman of the Makurdi River Port Implementation Committee since February, 2012 and Patron of the National Anti–Corruption Volunteers Corps, Abuja Chapter from November, 2011 to date.
Together with his wife, Dame Felicia Jukwe, they built the Linda Jukwe Memorial Nursery and Primary School, and the Holy Family Catholic Church, Agbou, Etulo in memory of their daughter, Late Linda Bozi Iwuese Jukwe. He is the Makurdi Chapter President of the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria from 2014. He is also the Worthy Coordinator of Knights of Columbus’ Good Shepherd Chaplaincy of the Benue State University, Makurdi, Nigeria from 2013.
As a highly successful logistician and transportant, he served as the pioneer Chairman of Kano Chapter, Nigerian Section of Chartered Institute of Transport International from 1987 to 1991 and as the pioneer Chairman of the now Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Abuja Chapter from 2004 to 2011.
