The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Malam Habib Abdullahi, has inaugurated a 5 man Committee charged with responsibility of midwifing the entire concession of terminal B of the old Warri Port in Delta State.
Tagged Project Delivery Team (PDT), the Committee which was inaugurated on Wednesday has been saddled with responsibility of ensuring a seamless transaction of the project in conjunction with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
The committee which was inaugurated in the presence of the BPE Director General, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, has as its terms of reference collation of submitted expression of interests by prospective Companies and evaluation of same, preparation of request for proposals which would explain the rules of engagement as well as development of information memorandum.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Malam Habib Abdullahi urged the Committee to carry out its assignment with the required zeal and dedication so that the objectives of the project can be achieved within the stipulated period.
It will be recalled that Terminal B of old Warri Port, a multipurpose terminal has recently undergone a comprehensive infrastructural facelift which include the reconstruction of quay wall that was raised to the level of sustaining the terminal for operational efficiency.
Additionally, the quay wall was re-aligned in straight line to the new terminal so that it can accommodate bigger vessels.
Following the completion of the rehabilitation work at the terminal, the Federal Government directed that operations at the terminal should commence, hence the placement of an advertisement for the expression of interest in National Dailies for interested companies who may wish to bid for the concession of the improved terminal.
The Management of the NPA-PDTCommittee which is to ensure the successful implementation of the entire transaction include; Mr.Joshua Asanga, Engr. S. I. Abdulbaki, Mr.Yusuf Ahmed, Mr. O. Obumneme and Mrs O. Oyinlola.
