The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has identified the need for proper identification of persons doing business within the Nigerian airports, seaports and border stations as a mean step towards the enhancement of the national security and in compliance with the ISPS Code.
In a press release issued last weekend by the head of Duties, NAGAFF headquarters, Fwdr. Onyeka Ezeonala advised the Freight Forwarders who are not the representatives of Corporate bodies licensed by the Nigeria customs Service to be registered by NAGAFF and the Council for the Regulation of Freight forwarding i Nigeria (CRFFN).
The statement added that the association would not come to the rescue of any unregistered Freight Forwarder caught by the law enforcement agents operating in stations aforementioned.
According to the statement , “ we may not be in a position to protect any freight forwarder who is not properly documented should such a person be arrested by the security agents”.
“We encourage every freight forwarder to be documented and registered by NAGAFF to avoid being arrested at the Nigerian airports, seaports and border stations in the course of their legitimate duty in the customs ports and border stations”.
“Go now and register with NAGAFF if you have not done so to ensure that your name and profile will be among those to be submitted to the security groups of the Federal republic”.
While reminding them that the seaports, airports and border stations were designated and restricted areas for commercial activities, the statement however disclosed that the release would be forwarded to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Comptroller General of Customs, and the Inspector General of Police for prompt action.
