After months of intense lobbying and politicking amongst the members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the dusts appeared to have settled down as the BoT members finally re-elected Chief Henry Njoku to be the board Chairman.
Chief Njoku was the BoT Chairman in the last dispensation and with his re-election, he has entered his name on record as a two term Chairman of the Board.
Recall that several attempts were made in the last seven months to elect a new BoT Chairman for the association since after their elections that took place in February this year in Warri, Delta State failed leading to the nomination of Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha to serve as the Coordinator with an agreement that the Coordinatorship should rotate amongst the members.
Although some members of the association frowned at the development describing it as unconstitutional and unprecedented in the history of ANLCA, the development continued unabated until last Friday when the board finally conducted its election.
In a text message delivered to Primetime reporters by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of ANLCA, Mr. Obicee Okonkwo further indicated that the election which held on Friday at the Sunfit Wellness Centre in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State also had Aare Sanni Shittu returned as the Vice Chairman, Prince Taye Oyeniyi as the Secretary while Chief Peter Obih would serve as the Treasurer.
Although the details of the elections were still sketchy as at the time of this publication, it was not clear if the new elections were tenured or not, it was however gathered that all the members of the BoT pledged to work together in the overall interest of the association.
