As Nigeria gets set for the 2015 general election, the Senior Pastor, Fire and Power Ministries, Lagos, Rev. Ezekiel Arimobi has warned politicians to avoid making statements capable of robbing off on the achievements so far made since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

Arimobi who was speaking on the sideline of the Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Church tagged,” My Neighbour and I” in Lagos on Sunday stated that instead of promoting those things that divides Nigeria, effort should be channeled towards a prosperous nation.

“Our minds should be focused on how we should move our nation forward especially the politicians, some of them, their utterances are very horrible. It is very unfortunate; most of them are elder statesmen that we expect so much from. It appears they are heating up the polity for some reasons that are best known to them”.

“We should try to come together, we all have stakes in this nation, we should see how we move our nation forward. Even if the sitting president is not getting it right, we should all come together to see how we could support him to build a nation of our dream”.

“And I want them to know that Jonathan is not going to be there forever and whoever is coming is not going to be there forever. But whoever it is, let us support him whether he is a Christian or a Muslim, it doesn’t matter. Let us support the person and see that our nation stands together “, he said.

While calling on Nigerians to de-emphasize religion in all aspects of their national life, he applauded the gesture demonstrated by the Muslim in Kaduna on the 25th December, 2014 where over 200 Muslim faithful gathered to ensure the safety of the Christians as they went about their Christmas service on the said day describing it as a healthy development that should be sustained.

According to him,” it is a very healthy development for Muslims to take it upon themselves to guard Christians, Christians also should the same on their behalf if they should have the opportunity because we are our brothers’ keepers. We should be there for one another. It is unfortunate that there are few elements in our nation who are sowing this seed of discord, the common man out there, the common Christian out there, the common Muslim out there doesn’t believe in all these things that they are doing. It is the elites that are really troubling this nation. God is going to help us”.

The Senior Pastor while alluding to the fact that the Boko Haram was a political creation created to score cheap political goals however called for a political solution to the menace of the Boko Haram Insurgency ravaging some parts of the Northern Nigeria.

Highlight of the Service were testimonies, choral renditions by the Voice of Fire Choral group, word ministration, prayer for the church and the nation, thanksgiving and cutting of the 2014 Annual Thanksgiving Cake amongst other activities.
