The Vice Chairman, National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) Apapa Chapter, Mr. Chukwujekwu Kanu has accused the maritime reporters of not doing enough in reporting the recent withdrawal of service by the freight forwarders operating at Apapa port.

Kanu who was speaking in an interview with Primetime Reporters in Lagos stated that the journalists did not give the action the much needed publicity it deserved so as to get the attention of the government and that of the world at large.

He wondered what in his opinion was supposed to be a national issue and be brought in the front burner was either not reported at all or in the case where it was ever reported, was under reported advising the journalists to brace up to their responsibility.

He said, “Even you journalists, I am not going to thank you people much because you people did not give the strike the much needed publicity. I don’t know why”.

“This one (current interview) may come on the newspaper tomorrow because nothing is at stake but when something is at stake that is supposed to be a national issue, you people should be shouting, Apapa is boiling oh!, so that everybody will hear it, we did not hear it”.

“So journalists, you people should brace up. Let me tell you, if there is no activity going on here, you won’t see anything to cover; there will be no news for you. But when you get the news, please, you know what is in communication, when you send a message, it must go through a medium and when it get to the other side, if there is no feedback, then there is no message”.

“So, we were sending message to the whole world through you people, our message did not even go anywhere at all not to talk of feedback”.
