As the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) targets to win both the State and National Assembly seats in the forthcoming general elections billed for next month, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has flagged off the Anambra South Senatorial District Campaign of the party and intensified massive grassroots mobilization and sensitization of the electorate to get their voter’s cards in order to be eligible to vote candidates of their choice.

Flagging off the campaign of the party at Ekwulobia, Tuesday, the Governor said that APGA had entrenched the culture of good governance in the State and urged the people to vote for APGA candidates who he charged to maintain good leadership and quality representation at all levels of governance.

He called on local government chairmen, traditional rulers, Presidents-General and other stakeholders to encourage and support eligible voters in their area to collect their permanent voters’ cards before the elections.

In his own remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh urged party members to intensify house-to-house campaign and stressed that APGA represents the welfare of the people and Ndigbo.

Chief Umeh however re-emphasized that only candidates whose names were published on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) List are allowed by the Electoral Act to campaign and contest the elections.

Also speaking, the APGA candidate for Anambra South Senatorial District, Engr. Ernest Ndukwe who  expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious at all levels in the coming elections, commended Governor Obiano for providing purposeful leadership for the party and for the  encouragement given to all party flag-bearers in the coming elections.

Similarly, the member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Romanus Obi noted that APGA has grassroots support and goodwill and was on course for total victory.

In their separate reactions, APGA chieftains, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene and Chief Maja Umeh asserted  that APGA under governor Obiano  has continued to grow from strength to strength and advanced to new frontiers across the country.

Governor Obiano who  also spoke  at a Political Forum at Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area, where some members of some opposition parties defected to APGA  same day, commended the defectors for the wise decision to join a progressive party and enjoined them  to team up with others  to achieve victory for the party.

He urged them to embark on door-to-door campaign and voter education to enable the people vote rightly and give the party a resounding victory to consolidate its dominance in the State.

A former Senator representing Anambra North in the National Assembly, Chief Alphonsus Ubanesse Igbeke who hosted the forum noted that the governor was running an all-inclusive government that carries everybody along.

Also speaking, the Anambra North Senatorial district candidate of APGA, Chief Dubem Obaze noted that the governor had provided a strong platform for the party to win the coming elections through his remarkable achievements within a short time.
