Obiano’s wife showers first baby of the Year in Anambra with gifts

The wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has described the birth of the first baby girl in Anambra State in the New Year as a good omen for the people of the state.

Chief Mrs Obiano who showered the new born who was delivered at 12am on New Year’s Eve with assorted gifts also observed that women bore good tidings which according to her were an indication of a positive outlook for the state and the people in the New Year.

Mrs. Obiano made the observation when she visited the new born on January 1, 2015 at Basic Health Centre, Court Road Onitsha, Anambra State.

The wife of the governor who showered the new born and the Centre with gift items including a cow, five bags of rice, clothing materials and a token sum for the mother and officials at the Health Centre, thanked them for helping to bring children into the world in very healthy condition and environment.

Expressing her satisfaction with the dedication of the workers at the health Centre, Chief Mrs. Obiano observed, “The fact that you kept vigil to deliver the babies when others were out celebrating shows your dedication and professionalism. I notice the babies and their mothers look healthy and clean, I encourage you to keep it up.”

Mrs. Obiano further explained that her kind gesture and favorable disposition towards the less privileged has been part of her since 1999, long before her husband became governor of Anambra State.

According to Mrs. Obiano, “the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), my pet project is a programme I started to fulfill a passion I have long practiced, hence the reason I feel comfortable doing what I am doing and I am happy that now that am privileged to be the mother of the state, I can still do what I can to help and provide succor wherever and whenever I feel it is needed.”

Speaking on the visit of wife of the governor, Matron of the Health Centre, Mrs. Grace Anyaorah, confirmed that the first baby girl was delivered at 12 midnight while two others who were also girls, arrived at 12.30am and 12.45am respectively.

Mrs. Anyaorah thanked Mrs. Obiano for remembering them and making them feel proud early in the New Year as well as the gift items she brought for the upkeep of the Centre.

Expressing her joy at the birth of her baby and the good things she had attracted to her family with the visit of the wife of the governor, mother of the first baby, Mrs. Uzoma Nwachukwu, thanked Mrs. Obiano for her kind gesture and for making their year very special.

In the same vein, Mrs. Obiano visited the Motherless Babies Home, Court Road Onitsha managed by Onitsha North Local Government and observed that the children were also healthy and promised to refurbish the facility to make it more habitable for the children. She also donated various items for the upkeep of the Centre and the staff.
