Technopreneurs, a team of contestants in the CEO Challenge, from the University of Ibadan, has qualified for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Phase in the on-going Procter & Gamble (P&G)’s CEO Challenge.
With this feat, the team will carry the Nigerian flag at the regional level when it will be competing with other teams from Africa to determine who advances to the final stage of the competition.
Technopreneurs team, comprising of Ololade Olaleye, Olamide Oladeji and Dolapo Salawu defeated the HHR, Midas, Incredible and Nudocs from the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye respectively at the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) phase to get to this stage.
Ridwan Sorunke, the Corporate Communications Officer, P&G, who disclosed this, commended the high level of competition among the teams saying that the creative manners in which Technopreneurs executed tasks assigned to it, earned it the qualification.
“The COO phase is very strategic because it is at this point that different countries present their best to compete at the regional level. Technopreneurs displayed great skill in the discharge of the tasks assigned to them by the judges and this earned them the promotion.”
Reacting to the qualification, Olamide Oladeji, a member of the Technopreneur team said that he and the other members of the team have resolved to do everything within their powers to win the coveted prize.
“We had competed with tough teams during the various stages of this competition and come out tops. Having gone this far, we now clearly have our eyes on the overall prize and no team can stop us at this stage. All we need to do is to remain focus, resolute and strategic in the remaining parts of the competition. For sure, victory shall be ours”, Oladeji said.
The P&G CEO Challenge is an online case study competition among students of universities and business schools across the world and is aimed at identifying, developing and grooming leaders for tomorrow.
They will get hands-on experience on how to solve P&G challenges on a more professional level and winners will get a chance to experience a day with P&G leaders and win exciting prizes like ipads, and a trip to Dubai.
The competition is designed to run in five stages – Brand Manager Challenge; Country Manager Challenge, the Chief Finance Officer Challenge, Chief Operating Officer Challenge and the Chief Executive Officer Challenge.
It will be recalled that over 449 teams from various Universities and Business schools across Nigeria applied for the challenge from which 129 emerged victorious in the qualifier challenge to participate in the Brand Manager’s Challenge.
