The Igbo Christian Traders and Gospel Ministers’ Association has given reasons why it has adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its preferred candidate in the forth-coming 2015 Presidential election rescheduled to hold on March 28, 2015.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, the National Chairman of the Association, Evang. Emmanuel Ezeani stated that some years back, the Naira was pegged at N80 per Dollar and Nigeria could not attract any foreign investment arguing that today when the same Dollar was traded at N165 and above, Nigeria had attracted well over $286 billion foreign investment.

Ezeani recalled that prior to this administration, the country could just boast of one operational seaport which made business so difficult and cumbersome to run in the country adding that the story was now different with many other seaports working efficiently leading to the ease of doing business in the country.

“Before, it takes almost 2 days to travel from Lagos to Onitsha but today, the same journey takes only six hours. Before our rail transport was dead, but today, they are revived and are back on track. Before the departure and arrival halls of our airports were like abandoned properties but today, they are being built to compete with what we see abroad”.

“Today, we have joined the committee of rice producing nations. Today, our dead automobile plants are back to life and we can boast of an indigenous auto plants just because of good business environment. Who is turning Nigeria from this captivity of yesterday to the freedom of today? Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. With these few things we enumerated of the many things he has done, we say that it is only a selfish person that will say that 1+1 is zero simply because he is not the one who provided the answer”.

“There is therefore, every need for consistency and continuity. We have made giant strides in our democratic pursuit; let us consolidate it by voting Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. He assured all Nigerians that he will oversee fair, free and credible elections. Today INEC has free hands in organizing and conducting elections, that is not the case with the State independent Electoral Commission in opposition states”, he said.

He observed that it was an anti thesis that the very man who truncated democracy in 1983 was seeking to be elected under democracy recalling of his (Buhari’s) statement to probe the Nigeria military if elected which according to him was another invitation to anarchy even as he urged Nigerians not to accept any move to return the country back to the days of tyranny.

According to him, “we know the truth, so we refuse to be deluded by the opposition. Thus, we call on all Nigerians not to be deceived. We must vote GEJ on March 28, 2015”.
