NNPP to declare support for Jonathan Thursday

After months of careful study of the presidential candidates of all the political parties fielding candidates for the 2015 Presidential election, the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) has finally taken a position to support the Presidential Candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan.

It will be recalled the NNPP about a month ago said that it was studying the manifestoes of all the parties fielding candidates for the 2015 Presidential election with a view to determining which of the parties’ candidates to support in the coming election.

In a release signed by the Head Media, NNPP Headquarters Annex, Lagos, Mr. Dipo Olayoku and made available to Primetime Reporters, the party stated that, “we shall be taking a position to support the Presidential Candidate of our sister political party who does more and talking less”.

The party disclosed that a World Press Conference to declare its support for president Goodluck Jonathan will take place at the NAGAFF Village, 2A Maybin Road, Apapa GRA, Lagos on Thursday, 5th March, 2015 at 10am.

According to NNPP,” the concept and practice of disenfranchising Nigerians from taking advantage of multi-party system of politicking is no longer news. Whereas democracy is all about good governance, the options of the greater number, rule of law and interest, it is most unfortunate that INEC which should have upheld the electoral guidelines of the 1999 Constitution as amended may have joined forces with enemies of sustainable democracy to disenfranchise upcoming politicians in Nigeria. INEC and her co-travelers to have connived to stop political parties in Nigeria is a dis-service to democracy and capacity building”.

“Whereas we are contesting elections in 23 states of the Federation including but not limited to Senatorial seats, Federal House of Representatives and State Assembly, we may not have the necessary logistics to present a Presidential Candidate because of the inherent logistics thereto”.

“In the light of the above, we shall be taking a position to support the Presidential Candidate of our sister political party who does more and talking less”.
