The Managing Director, Gold Link Investment Services Limited, Sir Tony Anakebe has frowned at the indiscriminate defecation around all the ports facilities in the Western Zone describing it as a major health problem which is capable of sparking off an epidemic.

Speaking with Primetime Reporters in Lagos recently, Sir Anakebe said that efforts should be geared toward getting the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as well as the Port Health to take proactive measure towards arresting the trend which he said was assuming a disturbing proportion.

According to him,” with these trucks littering around from Mile 2 to Apapa, if you trek because most of us don’t come with vehicles again, if you trek along the road leading to Apapa even inside the ports, you will see feces smelling left and right and this thing is becoming another health hazard and I believe sooner, the International Maritime Organisation will sanction Nigeria for this. The health implication is too bad.”

“There are no temporary toilets; they just mess up the whole area in the ports. So, by the grace of God, the incoming administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari should address this. I have advocated that the seat of government should be relocated to Lagos. If the Federal Government knows what it is losing in Apapa, so that all these hiccups and loses that the Federal Government incurs because of the problems of Apapa and in the customs circle should be stopped”.
