The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) says it has concluded arrangements to train 300 registered freight forwarding practitioners in the Professional Certificate, FIATA Diploma and Higher Diploma in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management programs for the 2015 academic session.
The Registrar of the Council, Sir Mike Jukwe gave this heartwarming news in his office in Lagos during an interactive session with the leadership of the accredited associations on Freight Forwarding Reform.
Jukwe said that time were gone when the industry practitioners were looked down on urging them to avail themselves of the education and training opportunities provided for by the Council and acquire an in-depth knowledge of the industry in order to compete favourably in the comity of nations.
He therefore called on the leadership of the accredited associations to hasten up in the submission of their nominees for the programmes which he said would launch the industry into a new era of standardization and professionalism.
The Council boss while commending the ingenuity of the freight forwarders in the discharge of their functions, encouraged them to key in to the numerous educational reform programmes provided by the council such as the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPD), the Executive Diploma in Freight Forwarding and other short and Medium term refresher courses to be organized by the Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders in collaboration with the accredited associations.
He described the programmes as pragmatic and would improve and broaden the knowledge, skills and competencies of the practitioners adding that MCPD would serve as criteria for the issuance and renewal of their Annual Freight Forwarders’ License being issued by the Council.
In his remark at the occasion, the National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu expressed satisfaction over the development strides of the Council and enjoined the practitioners to identify with the reform programmes.
