The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara has called for unity among colleagues to tackle the matters affecting the nation.

Mr. Dogara who made the call at Thursday’s plenary after the House sitting was disrupted by some members tussling for leadership positions, urged members to be grateful to their constituents for sending them to the House.

According to the Speaker, “let me remind us of the fact that, we are a very fortunate, that out of the 170 million people, only 360 of us were selected or elected to represent the people.

”Nigerians expect us to really talk about those matters, those issues that bother them most, they want to hear us talk about unemployment, poverty, ”said Dogara.

The Speaker said that since members have been down this tedious road before, all hands must be on the deck to address the issues facing the house.

According to him, “as for the issues that led to the fracas today (Thursday), we will sit down as leaders and resolve whatever fight we have to ensure that this matter as quickly as possible is resolved and that is what we will do by the Grace of God.

The Speaker said that it would enable them achieve the desired unity needed in other to move the house forward, which is the responsibility they owe Nigerians.
