…As CRFFN delegation visits NAGAFF Headquarters

A giant step towards the Collection of the Professional Operating Fees (POF) was taken on Monday with the visit of some representatives of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) to the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF).

The delegation comprising Consultants, Technical and Senior staff of the CRFFN as well as the enforcement unit said the purpose of the visit was to demonstrate how the payment of the Professional Operating Fees (POF) was to be carried out.

According to one of the Consultants, the process of payment would involve generating invoice, payment of the appropriate fees and the tendering of the evidence of payment to effect the release of cargo.

According to the CRFFN, invoice could be generated by the Freight Forwarder on his own through the internet (online) or by visiting any CRFFN office nearby or better still through the CRFFN Customer Care
Centres.

To generate an invoice, the freight forwarder must fill in his or her RFF No. and PIN after which the appropriate fees to be paid would evolve together with the Transaction number which makes the freight forwarder ready to make payment.  Payments for the POF can be made into a bank account which would be indicated in the invoice through cash lodgment in the bank account, through money transfer via the freight forwarders’ phone (if you have the facility) ATM or Netfund.

In his own contribution at the event, Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. B. O. Aniebonam urged the CRFFN to plug all the loopholes identified in the process as enunciated by the CRFFN representatives.

Dr. Aniebonam pledged the support of NAGAFF to the CRFFN and also the cooperation of members of the Association to ensure the success of the exercise.

For his part, NAGAFF President, Dr. Eugene Nweke advised CRFFN to endeavour to fine-tune the process to make it easy for freight forwarders who would like to key into the new exercise.

Participants at the demonstration by CRFFN expressed satisfaction with the exercise and the optimism that it would be to the benefit of all involved.

The exercise which commenced at the NAGAFF headquarters will also take the CRFFN delegation to the headquarters of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents later on Monday July 27, 2015, while it would be the turn of both the National Association of Air Freight
Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC) and the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria on Tuesday July 28, 2015.

The CRFFN delegation was led by the Managing Director of NETPOST Pay Ltd., Mr. Kelechi Dozie.
