The National President of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu has debunked the misrepresentation by two of his executives at various chapters and a member respectively.
Shittu who spoke through a press release issued by the National Publicity Secretary of ANLCA, Dr. Kayode Farinto said “We are a responsible association that believe in progress of Nigeria, efforts of Comptroller General of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdulahi especially in the area of transformation, upgrading facilities, improved staff welfare and above collection of huge revenue into the federal government’s account. ANLCA will continue to maintain the cordial relationship she has with the NCS”.
The duo of Kanikwu Davies and Ghanny Adeola who are chapter executives at the Tincan Island and PTML Ports Complexes had last weekend called for Abdullahi’s sack over the creation and operation of multiple Customs task forces at the ports.
They also alleged that the Customs boss had desecrated the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) by using junior officers to monitor the activities of senior officers.
The statement further stated that Shittu Bamidele who also alleged that Customs officers are polluted is not an executive and was never appointed or elected to speak about issues on behalf of ANLCA.
“All these are fallacious statements, orchestrated to tarnish the image of ANLCA. The CGC withdrew former task force at various commands and replace them with new once and reshuffled all of them. This move was discussed and appreciated at one of the stakeholders meetings.
“More so, the crop of officers sent to the ports is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that examinations are conducted well and revenue lost as a result of discrepancy in quantity will be determined. Above all, the set of officers are going back to their base by the end of this month” he said.
According to the release,” These members (three) calling on President Buhari to Sack Customs boss are speaking base on their personal opinions. It’s against the views, opinion of ANLCA members generally. Never theless, disciplinary measures will be seriously taken, ANLCA will not condone any act of indiscipline. We have always been dialoguing with NCS to address issues and we will continue to do so in the interest of our economy”.
