A grand plan hatched by a wicked opposition to smear the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano‎ with the ongoing demonstration by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East has been exposed.

A Statement by Coordinator of Society for Good Governance and Democracy, Dr. Ibe Mokwugwo, made available in Awka recently ‎has warned individuals, media outlets especially online platforms currently receiving such materials to ignore the wicked lies.

Dr. Mokwugwo said that the perpetrators of the falsehood have already concocted materials for circulation online and in social media, alleging that on one hand “Governor Obiano wrote a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari alleging that former Governor Peter is sponsoring IPOB,” and also that the “Governor’s visit to the spots around Onitsha where there was violent demonstration recently was what led to alleged killing of some persons”.

According to the Good Governance and Democracy activist, “there is no doubt that these heinous allegations and smear campaign are part of the grand design by desperate opposition to discredit the hard working Governor by pitching him against the President and at the same time cause disaffection between him and peace loving citizens of Anambra State.”

He further stated, “It is noteworthy that the desperation on display by these sponsored opposition has gone out of hand such that they are trying to distort and disturb the peace in the state just to further their political interest and distract the Governor from executing his programmes for the people.”

Society for Good Governance and Democracy therefore called on Ndi Anambra to ignore any kind of insinuation, rumour and publications as mere figment of the imagination of desperados ‎who were bent on dictating the affairs of the state for a fee.
