The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has charged mothers of the Anglican Communion Church of Nigeria to act as bridge builders even as they reflect on their role as mothers and care-givers that lay the moral foundation for the future while working assiduously to enthrone peace and progress in the society.
Mrs. Obiano made the plea Sunday in her Speech delivered during the Mothers’ Sunday celebration by Mothers of the Anglican Communion in some Anglican Churches in Anambra State.
The wife of the governor stated that Mothers’ Sunday was a very important day in Christendom and in the global calendar of events concerning women because it is not only a day to celebrate motherhood but a day that also behooves on all to pause and ponder the awesome role of women in God’s plan for his world.
To buttress the importance of mothers, Mrs. Obiano asked: “Can anyone really imagine a world without us, without women, without mothers and without our beautiful daughters? Can anyone visualize what it would be like?”
Mrs. Obiano observed that her husband governor Obiano owe his achievements for which he was recently honoured as the Best Governor in Nigeria to the fervent prayers of Anambra women in his two years in office.
She therefore urged them to persevere in prayers since the leaders and Anambra state needs the favour of God especially in these trying times for our country, Nigeria.
Mrs Obiano reiterated her promise to be the voice of women to her husband, stressing she has kept to that through the activities of her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ).
She outlined some of the things CAFÉ has done to provide succor to various women and needy groups to include; housing for indigent widows in each Senatorial Zone, new skills and empowerment training for over 600 women, prosthetic limbs and Wheel chairs for 700 persons; free cleft lip/cleft palate surgeries, the rescue and care for mentally challenged and the building of Toilets in our rural Markets amongst other programmes.
All these charity projects by CAFÉ, she said were made possible with donations and the support of Ndi Anambra.
Wishing the Anglican mothers happy Mothers’ Sunday, Mrs. Obiano surmised that although “we cannot remake our world completely, we can all make a difference by reaching out to touch our neighbours profoundly. There’s so much poverty around us that a little act of kindness can make a world of difference in our little corner of the world!”
