ANLCA fly Nigeria’s flag as IFCBA 2016 World Conference opens in Shanghai, China

The 2016 edition of the World Conference of the International Federation of Customs Brokers’ Association (IFCBA) with the theme,” Facilitating Trade through the Customs – Business Connection”, has opened in Shanghai, China with the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) attending.

The Conference which commenced on the 17th of May, 2016 and will span through to the 21st of May, 2016 comprises topics such as:- Customs Brokers: Your Partners in Trade, Presentation on World Customs Organization (WCO) Priorities and Trade Facilitation, Set up of Ecosystem of Customs Clearance Service to Facilitate Connectivity and Common Development, A global Perspective on Customs Compliance and Why It Matters.

Other are; WCO Survey on Customs Brokers, Development of the Single Window in China, AEO Standards and Practices, Rules of Origin and FTA, Intelligence Clearance Platform and Trade Facilitation, Training of Potential Customs Brokers amongst others.

According to the release sent to Primetime Reporters by the Senior Special Assistant Media to ANLCA President, Mr. Joe Sanni revealed that the world conference commenced with the meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of IFCBA on Tuesday, 17th May 2016 at the WH Ming Hotel venue, in Shanghai, with the National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu and ANLCA BOT Chairman, Chief Henry Njoku who have been Board members of IFCBA for the 4th year running, in attendance.

“It is expected that, on return to Nigeria, the experience garnered, the goodwill and professional networks established, will be domesticated, to improve on the cargo clearance processes in Nigeria, to facilitate trade, according to international best practices.

“It is also wished that relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry, and especially the Federal Government of Nigeria, Federal Ministries of Finance, Transportation, Industry, Trade & Investment and the Nigeria Customs Service, will seize the opportunity of the membership of ANLCA in IFCBA, to rally round ANLCA, to take full advantage of the enormous benefits derivable from this World Customs Brokers Organization (WCBO) that is also a member of the most powerful organ of the World Customs Organisation (WCO)– The Policy and Strategic Group (PSG).

” ANLCA will endeavour to publish the outcome of the conference and distribute soft copies of the presentations, at the close of the world conference”, the release read in part.

ANLCA’s delegation to the IFCBA’s World Conference is made up of the National President – Prince Olayiwola Shittu, National Vice President – Kingsley Emenike Nwokeoji, Chairman of the Board of Trustee (BOT) – Chief Henry Njoku, National Secretary – Dr. Emma Oparah Ogu, Zonal Secretary (West) Alhaji Liasu Bayo Oyekangu and the chairman of the Association Electoral Commission (ASECO)/Multipurpose Biometrics project – Alhaji Mukaila Babatunde Abdulazeez. Each member of the delegation is on self-sponsorship.
