The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has described the Bishop of the Diocese of Amichi Anglican Communion, His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor as a man of God whose preaching transcends denominations and a good shepherd of Christians in Anambra and beyond.
The Governor stated this while paying tribute to the Bishop on the occasion of his Fiftieth Birthday Anniversary Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrews Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area at the weekend.
Governor Obiano said that the Rt. Rev. Bishop Ikeakor was a good friend who had kept touch with developments in the state and supported the administration in his prayers.
He expressed his happiness at joining in the celebration of a great man who dedicated his life to the service of God.
The Governor welcomed all the dignitaries present at the thanksgiving especially those visiting from outside the state saying, “I welcome you all, feel free to move around and see our state. By the grace of God Anambra is the safest State in Nigeria today and I enjoin you to see the state and our changing capital of Awka with our good roads and flyovers.”
In his remarks, former Minister of Power and Chairman of the event, Venerable, Prof Chinedu Nebo described the celebrant as a “dogged, determined, committed and purposeful man of God. He is acknowledged as a teacher and the word of God burns luminously in his heart. Fifty years is not fifty days that is why we celebrate him today.”
Acknowledging the Governor, Rt. Rev. Ikeakor thanked him for the good work he was doing in Anambra State.
He expressed delight for the presence of the Governor amongst other dignitaries who came to honour and celebrate with him.
“Your Excellency, I thank you for being with us in this service from beginning to the end. God will bless you! God will surprise you and guide you in your endeavors. I know how tight your schedule is but you chose to join me today in this celebration. I am grateful”, he said.
The high point of the birthday celebration was the cutting of the Fiftieth Birthday cake and the Unveiling of eleven chapter book titled; “The Careless Children of Careless God” written by the celebrant.
