Njikoka women comprising of Ndi nne Anambra from Abagana, Abba, Enugwu-Agidi, Enugwu-Ukwu, Nawfia and Nimo communities in Njikoka Local Government Area have risen in unison to commend Governor Willie Obiano for exemplary leadership which has kept the state afloat and progressive in time of national recession.
The women commended the Governor over the weekend while expressing their appreciations when political appointees from the LGA currently serving in the Obiano administration visited them at the ongoing August meetings in the respective communities.
Speaking at Obu Umunri, Enugwu-Ukwu on Friday where over three thousand members of Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union (ECDU) Women Wing were meeting, a woman leader Mrs. Kate Okafor told the visiting officials that Governor Obiano’s compassion permeates communities across the state and the people were testifying about his giant strides in two years of leadership in the area of security, agriculture, infrastructure development and what she described as “unparalleled concern for workers’ welfare” through regular payment of salaries in a time of recession.
At Obierika Hall, Enugwu Agidi, President Enugwu Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) Women Wing, Madam Mercy Onubuiyi, thanked Governor Obiano for making the welfare of Anambra women an important part of his administration’s agenda and actually working to ensure that contributions of women were recognized in the scheme of things by appointing many of them to positions of authority.
She also stated that the wife of the Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has made women proud with her support for the Governor through charity projects like housing for indigent widows and various empowerment programmes and support for the less privileged.
In the same vein at Nawfia, Chief Lady Nkiru Etele said that Governor Obiano has demonstrated capacity for good leadership that was acknowledged by all and therefore was qualified to serve Ndi Anambra for two terms of eight years.
She thanked the political appointees led by Member Representing Njikoka 1 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Tim Ifediora for coming to enlighten the women on opportunities available for them in the many laudable programmes of the government and requested that they convey their appreciation to the Governor and his wife.
Addressing the women at Enugwu-Ukwu, Hon. Tim Ifediora told the women that Njikoka local government political appointees came to show solidarity and sensitize them on the laudable programmes of the government of Anambra State.
He thanked them for voting massively for him during last elections and assured them of continuous quality representation.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor, Mr. Emeka Ozumba told Enugwu-Ukwu women that the delegation came from two arms of government – legislature and the executive to convey the message of Governor Willie Obiano.
He praised the August meeting initiative for community development and urged the women to recognize that the Governor was fulfilling his leadership obligations and was committed to making Anambra peaceful and prosperous in spite of the little money now accruing from the Federal Allocation.
Mr. Ozumba also conveyed the message from the Governor’s wife, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano to ensure that pregnant women and children under five years were immunized; the need to form cooperatives to access loans from Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) and also take advantage of the now lucrative vegetable farming.
At Enugwu Agidi, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Science and Tech. Hon Uche Ebo told the women that Anambra was in safe hands under Obiano who needed the support of everyone to complete the good work he was doing with votes for a second term in office.
Earlier on Thursday, more encomiums were showered on Obiano at St. James Anglican Church, Abagana where the women praised the Governor for making Anambra State a reference point by both locals and foreigners who point at the state as a good example of where things were working in Nigeria.
They also thanked the government delegation for coming to support development efforts by women in their communities.
Speaking at the occasion, Senior Special Assistant on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon. Tony Nwazojie told the women that Obiano was a leader with proven humility and goodwill.
He noted that it was only a man with the fear of God that could call for forgiveness from his predecessor for any perceived wrongs even when he held all the aces as an incumbent Governor.
In his own contribution, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, Rtn. Ifeanyi Aniagoh, told the mothers that Anambra had a father-figure in Governor Obiano who worries daily about how to make Anambra the best noting that “Gov. Obiano’s believe in the fruitful energy and capacity of the youth has given me and many young persons in Anambra the opportunity to serve and help better the lots of our parents in particular and our communities in general”.
He also said that Obiano’s Choose-a-Project Initiative was noble program that allowed everyone to participate in government starting with the N20m worth of project for every community.
Rtn. Aniagoh thus called on Abagana women to show their strength by voting massively for Obiano to secure a second term come 2017 elections.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Obiano, Hon. Ngozi Okoye from Abba told the Christian mothers that Anambra was the safest state in Nigeria due to the conscious effort of the Governor to keep everyone one safe hence he deserved the support of Ndi Anambra to consolidate on his achievements.
The political appointees also presented the women with various gifts and financial support in aide of their development programmes.
Amongst the appointees on tour of the Local Government during the weekend are: Hon. Tin Ifediora, Hon. Tony Nwazojie, Hon. Emeka Ozumba, Hon. Uche Ebo, Rtn. Ifeanyi Aniagoh, Hon. Dr. Sunny Ekwunife, Hon. Ngozi Okoye, Hon. Kelvin Ibik, Hon. Obiorah Nweke and Hon. Titus Agwuike.
Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Chief Joe Billy Ekwunife, Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Nze Uche Nworah as well as Hon. Ifeoma Igboka who supported the initiative were unavoidable absent.
