The women commended the Governor over the weekend while expressing their appreciations when political appointees from the LGA currently serving in the Obiano administration visited them at the ongoing August meetings in the respective communities.

Speaking at Obu Umunri, Enugwu-Ukwu on Friday where over three thousand members of Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union (ECDU) Women Wing were meeting, a woman leader Mrs. Kate Okafor told the visiting officials that Governor Obiano’s compassion permeates communities across the state and the people were testifying about his giant strides in two years of leadership in the area of security, agriculture, infrastructure development and what she described as “unparalleled concern for workers’ welfare” through regular payment of salaries in a time of recession.

At Obierika Hall, Enugwu Agidi, President Enugwu Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) Women Wing, Madam Mercy Onubuiyi, thanked Governor Obiano for making the welfare of Anambra women an important part of his administration’s agenda and actually working to ensure that contributions of women were recognized in the scheme of things by appointing many of them to positions of authority.

Mr. Ozumba also conveyed the message from the Governor’s wife, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano to ensure that pregnant women and children under five years were immunized; the need to form cooperatives to access loans from Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) and also take advantage of the now lucrative vegetable farming.
