The Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has said that infrastructural development and improvement in the quality of life of the average onye Anambra is of paramount importance to Chief Willie Obiano and his team in Anambra State.

Mrs. Obiano stated this Thursday while addressing the people of Abatete, Abacha and Eziowelle in Idemili North Local Government Area during her ongoing Community Tour and Christmas outreach to the less privileged.

The wife of the governor told the crowd gathered at the squares in the three communities that the governor was determined to improve the status of the communities adding that, that was why he initiated the N20million Community Choose your project to ensure even spread of development.

She said,“We all know that our country is in recession but I can tell you that I have heard the governor countless times at home discussing his plans and how to implement it to leave Anambra better then he met it. In the course of this tour, I noticed that in most communities the N20m projects are at advanced stages. You may wish to know that the governor plan to replicate the programme next year such that once you complete yours, you get opportunity for another N20m project thus making it N40m project in every community.”

The Governors’ wife reiterated the desire of the state government to make each of the one hundred and seventy nine communities in Anambra feel the dividends of democracy and urged the beneficiaries to handle the projects with the interest of the people at heart.

She noted that the community projects were without prejudice to ongoing government projects like road construction, installation of transformers to boost power supply, rehabilitation and upgrade of classrooms in primary and secondary schools as well as rehabilitation of Primary Healthcare centres across the state.

She also highlighted the complimentary role she plays through her NGO, Caring Family Empowerment Initiative (CAFÉ) which supports the welfare programmes of the Obiano administration in promoting strong and healthy families through assisting the vulnerable groups amongst Ndi Anambra to feel the impact of government and eventually contribute to the socio-economic development of the state.

Furthermore, Mrs. Obiano explained that she embarked on the tour not just to reach the indigent and less privileged but also to keep the locals abreast of what the government was doing and get feedback which she would take to the governor, and called on the people to support the governor.

Welcoming the wife of the governor to their communities, the respective Woman Leaders in Abatete, Abacha and Eziowelle communities expressed joy at the opportunity to host Mrs. Obiano whom they described in candid but superlative terms.

At Abatete, Mrs. Ibezim praised the commitment of Mrs. Obiano to the less privileged through CAFE.

In the same vein, Lady Theresa Olife in Abacha described her as an amazon who empowers women to be self-sufficient, while her counterpart at Eziowelle, Dr. Ifeyinwa Mbanefo saw her as a friend of the helpless and the poor.

Also at the colourful and well attended rally at Eziowolle, President General, Dr. Titus Akpudo praised the effort of the governor and his wife whom he noted had proven that they were God sent to develop Anambra state and urged them not to be distracted since majority of Ndi Anambra were solidly with them.

The President General and the youths later presented Mrs. Obiano with a plaque of honour.

Other highlights include distribution of bags of rice and other Christmas gifts to the needy, school bags and exercise books to school children by the wife of the governor.
