The wife of Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Oby Okeke has lauded the commitment of the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife Ebelechukwu for good governance and total development aimed at making the state a better place for all.
Mrs. Okeke stated this Thursday where she represented the governor’s wife at rally stops in Fegge, Odoakpu, Woliwo and Housing Estate communities in Onitsha South Local Government Area in the course of the ongoing tour of 179 communities in the state.
Mrs. Okeke said that the Obiano administration has shown good faith and demonstrable commitment to develop all corners of the state even in these difficult times.
She said, “Obiano started working from their very first day in office because he had clear idea about what he planned to do. Although he is barely three years in office as governor, everyone can attest that he has done much better than some who have stayed eight years.“
The Deputy Governor’s wife explained, that what governor Obiano have been able to achieve in the areas of security, agriculture, attraction of investment and job creation, infrastructural developments including road reconstruction, flyovers and bridges, as well as the N20m Community Chose Your project initiative all with the very limited resources was commendable.
She also highlighted the achievements of Mrs. Obiano who supports her husband through programmes of her pet project Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ).
The NGO has built ten 2-bedroom houses free for indigent widows, trained over two thousand women, youths and empowered them with equipment and start-up stipend, built toilets in rural markets and sunk bore-holes in fifteen communities.
She equally thanked the people of Onitsha South Local Government for their decision to massively support the governor and the party APGA so as to sustain the development of the state.
The community tour was embarked-on by the governor’s wife to reach out to the indigent and the less privileged with Christmas gifts and get feedback from the community leaders, women and youths on status of government programmes and projects across the state.
On their part, community leaders, and women in Onitsha south expressed their appreciation for the visit by the governor’s wife, commending her for using CAFÉ to touch the lives of the helpless in a positive way, and the governor for sustaining development across the state.
One of the prominent leaders at Fegge Community, Member representing Onitsha 1, State Constituency, Hon. Paddy Aniuno said that it was heart-warming to note that in spite of the economic recession in the country, the governor Obiano continued to work for the people, and the wife kept reaching out to the people irrespective of political affiliation.
Also speaking at Odoakpu, Member Representing Onitsha II State Constituency, Mrs. Beverly Ikpeazu was full of gratitude the governor’s wife for her benevolence to the needy despite steadfast support to the governor, whom she acknowledge merits second term to accomplish more for the state.
At the Woliwo community rally held at the Onitsha Headquarters, Woman Leader, Mrs. Ndeobi Madonna Uzonwanyieze in her address thanked the wife of the governor for remembering some members of the community this Christmas.
She also noted that the governor’s achievements in a very short time were unprecedented and deserved commendation and support of Ndi Anambra.
On his part, President General of Housing Estate Community, Chief Afam Nwaogaranya in his vote of thanks, said that the “achievements of governor Obiano is very clear even to the blind and he deserves the support all to continue for second term.”
The highpoint of the Community tour was the distribution of Christmas gift to indigent widows, physically challenged and school bag to children.
