The wife of the Anambra State governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has condoled with the traditional ruler of Ukwulu community in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Igwe Peter Uyanwa, Ezedike n’ Ukwulu on the death of his senior sister Mgbankwo.

Mrs. Obiano who was on tour of Ukwulu Community Thursday arrived to the news of the demise of the Igwe’s sister and immediately altered her programme to commiserate with the traditional ruler in his palace.

Mrs. Obiano told Igwe Peter Uyanwa that she decided to stop-by his palace the moment she was briefed about the loss to condole with him, his wife, the larger Uyanwa family and Ukwulu community.

Said Mrs. Obiano “Although our mission here is to visit and discuss with your people the immediate challenges that require government attention and support the less privileged with Christmas gifts, I am touched and hereby urge you to take heart in the knowledge that God will give her repose. I will also convey the sad news to my dear husband.”

Mrs. Obiano also thanked Igwe Uyanwa for the glowing tribute and bold endorsement of the governor for another term in office, and for sanctioning that her tour programme in the community be concluded even though he is mourning since it is for the benefit of his people and the state.

She also reiterated the governor’s assurance that projects earmarked for the area would be completed.

Earlier in his response, Igwe Peter Uyanwa stated that although he is in mourning he would not miss the opportunity to tell the wife of the governor about the widespread support the governor enjoys amongst his people.

According to Igwe Uyanwa, “My subjects and many who know me from far and near know that I am a man of my word. Our current governor, your husband has surpassed expectations in many areas including security, infrastructure and agricultural development. Why should we be looking elsewhere in Anambra when he has proven himself to the people. Please tell Akpokuodike that when the time comes, the two Wards in my community will give him total support. You have also shown that two of you are God-sent with the able way you complement his efforts through the charity work you are doing. Please keep up the good work and leave the rest to us”.

Mrs. Obiano was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oby Okeke, Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Chikwelu; three Members of Anambra State House of Assembly including Hon Nikky Ugochukwu of Orumba South Constituency, Hon Vivian Okadigbo of Oyi Constituency and Hon Nkemdiche Ikpeazu of Onitsha South Constituency, and other government functionaries.
