The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Bala Usman has urged the staff of the agency to redirect themselves towards efficient service delivery to the nation.
NPA, Ms Usman said, would always promote productivity and enthrone accountability in its operations.
Speaking during the long service awards ceremony organised by the authority in Lagos, Ms Usman informed them that the management had decided to review their rent allowances next year and told them the need to carry out their official responsibilities diligently and in line with best practices.
The Managing Director who was represented by the Executive Director Finance and Administration , Mohammed Bello Koko said that the issue of staff promotion would always be handled promptly and in line with performance appraisal in order to challenge workers to brace up for better accomplishment.
The Long Service Awards, the Managing Director said, would hold annually so as to recognise the contributions of all members of staff that had served the authority meritoriously.
She added that the concession regime had promoted the port business and yielded the benefits to the Federal Government, the private terminal operators, service providers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.
A total of 481 and 183 staff who belonged to 2013 and 2012 categories were given awards respectively.
Assorted gifts like refrigerators, air conditioners, television sets and other home appliances were given to the different categories of the awardees as a mark of appreciation for their contribution to the NPA.
