Member representing Ayamelum Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Okafor has given kudos to the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano over his timely release of constituency funds due to each constituency in the state.
Hon. Okafor while speaking as a guest on the 28th Edition of Anambra Scorecard, an online live programme where the led engage their leaders, explained that the successes of the Honourable Members of the House were hinged on the fact the Governor was a listening leader who also “releases the much needed constituency funds as and when due.”
Speaking on his relationship with his constituents, Hon. Okafor rated it as wonderful disclosing that it started even before his emergence as a legislator.
“I would say I am the first and only legislator who won in all the polling units in Ayamelum and what it means is that our people have this great love for me”, Okafor stated.
Continuing the legislator said, “When I won, I consolidated on the relationship by ensuring that what I had in my manifesto is brought into play.”
He explained that the first thing he did after his victory was to have an interactive session with all the stakeholders in Ayamelum, where he asked the people what they wanted him to do.
“From the town hall meeting, it was clear that we didn’t have any government infrastructure in our place, no government presence until Willie Obiano came into the picture,” says the legislator.
“But today, I am happy to state that more than half of my people’s demands have been accomplished and in a big way credit will go to His Excellency Willie Obiano who has a listening ear… So that’s what has sustained my relationship with my people,” Hon Okafor added.
It is no longer news that Anambra State stands out in the face of the prevailing economic recession in Nigeria. Aside the fact that it towers as one state that regularly pays workers and pensioners, the governor, Chief Willie Obiano at the wake of the economic crisis introduced an economic stimulus package which has cushioned the effect of the recession on ndi Anambra.
