The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has denied a newspaper report (not Primetime Reporters) which suggests that it is at war with bidders over cargo survey.

A statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by the agency’s spokesman, Elder Effiong Nduonofit said that NPA, as a responsible corporate entity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, respects the Institution of law and order adding that all its operations were in tandem with due process and in line with the provisions of the Procurement Act.

The statement further stated that the NPA don’t manipulate any process in this regard as alleged even as it clarified that there was a Standing Committee on the evaluation of all contracts which was ratified by the Parastatal Tenders Board (PTB) that was independent of the Managing Director.

The statement reads,” The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) renounces the Guardian Newspaper Publication of Tuesday the 21st day of March 2017 on page 42 titled “NPA, bidders at war over Cargo Survey.

“As a responsible corporate entity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the NPA respects the Institution of Law and Order.

“In this regard therefore, the Management herewith states categorically that “all our operations are in tandem with due process and in line with the provisions of the Procurement Act”.

“Therefore, Management further reiterates that the organization does not manipulate any process in this regard as alleged.

“We wish to state categorically that there is a Standing Committee on the evaluation of all contracts which is ratified by the Parastatal Tenders Board (PTB) that is independent of the Managing Director.

“The NPA hereby observes that those complaining are doing so because the organization has strictly followed the provisions of the Law which unfortunately is not to their advantage. This is why they are crying wolf, where there is none.

“The Management therefore assures all Stakeholders of strict compliance with the provision of the PublicProcurement Act concerning contracts and services”.
