The acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will on Tuesday, the 7th of March perform the ground breaking ceremony to mark the commencement of construction of the Lagos-Ibadan railway line.

A statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Yetunde Shonaike noted that the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan railway line was the second segment of the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Railway System with an extension to the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.

The statement further disclosed that the historic event which would take-off by 11:00 am at the Ebute-Metta Railway Terminal, Lagos would be attended by important dignitaries cutting across the spectrum of the society including State Governors, Captains of industry and stakeholders in the transportation Sector.

It stated that the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, would be the Chief Host for the ground breaking ceremony.

“The Lagos-Kano Railway Standard Gauge Project will not only generate massive employment for the teeming youths but also help to bridge the Infrastructural deficit in the transportation sector of the economy”, the statement said.
