All is now set for the celebration of the 3rd Year Anniversary of Primetime Reporters, Annual Lecture and Award Giving Ceremony holding today at the Rockview Hotels, Apapa, Lagos at 10.00 am.
The event which has as its theme,” Maritime Sector in Nigeria: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow will have a renowned maritime practitioner and orator, Hon. Chris Asoluka deliver the theme paper at the event whereas the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi will deliver a keynote address.
The event which is to be chaired by the President, Ship Owners’ Association (SOAN) and Chairman Starzs Investment Company Limited, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun will also have the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano as the Chief Guest of Honour.
A total of 18 Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers will be conferred with the Primetime Reporters Award of Excellence which will be the second in the series since the inception of the medium.
Speaking on the event, the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief of Primetime Reporters, Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo said that the event was aimed at reviewing the activities of the news medium which came into existence on the 11th of February, 2014, so as to see how well it had fared in dishing out news and information to the public and identify areas of growth in the years ahead.
Nwadinamuo pointed out that while the medium have established its presence in the nation’s maritime industry, the coming years will see the medium expanding into other sectors of the economy in order to truly give it the general interest image which it was originally set out to be.
According to him,” Originally, Primetime Reporters was cut out to be a general interest online newspaper covering all aspect of the society, but you know as they saying goes, one dare not bite more than he can chew, we decided to start with a particular sector, which is the maritime sector where we had a comparative advantage as at that time. But with this anniversary celebration, we have come of age because a three year old baby is no longer expected to be under suckling rather, such a baby should be eating solid foods at that age. So it is with Primetime Reporters.
“So, we seek to use this event to announce our arrival to the masses and to tell them that having done so well in the maritime sector in the last three years of our existence, we are poised to do even better in other sectors of the economy in our expansion vision”.
He further said that the event would be used to appreciate and honour some Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in their various field of endeavours.
He gave the names of those to be so honoured to include the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Political Strategy and Grassroot Mobilization, Hon. Emeka Aforka (JP), the President of SOAN, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, the National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu, former National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Eugene Nweke, and the founder of NAGAFF and National Chairman of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Chief Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
Others are; Chairman, Shipowners Forum, Barr. Mrs. Margaret Orakwusi, the Customs Area Controller, Tincan Island command, Comptroller Yusuf Bashar, Director Special Duties, NIMASA, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Assistant Chief, Special Duties NIMASA, Mr. Daniel Kajo, Barr. Osuala Emmanuel Nwagbara of the Maritime and Commercial Law Partners, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), NAGAFF, ANLCA, NIMASA, National Publicity Secretary ANLCA, Dr. Kayode Farinto and Comrade Stephen Ibe.
The Primetime Reporters boss disclosed that this award is the second in the series as some set of Nigerians had been earlier decorated with the Primetime Reporters’ award in the year 2015 even as he said that the medium would continue to identify and reward hard work so as to encourage the coming generation of Nigerian youths to imbibe thee virtue of hard work which he said pays at the long run.
He therefore invite all the stakeholders in the nation’s maritime industry and all friends of the medium to attend the event which he said promised to be reward, revealing, educating as well as entertaining as there are a lot of take aways to be drawn from the event.
