The Governor Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has assured the family of his late Driver, Mr. Chukwuma Benson Ojinka that they would not be abandoned but that he will continue to see to the upkeep and welfare of the wife and five children.

Governor Obiano who was represented by the wife, Ebelechukwu and a host of dignitaries from the state gave the assurance during the burial ceremony of the late Mr. Ojinka at Ekwereazu Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia state.

Mr. Chukwuma Ojinka died January 2, 2017 following complications from peptic ulcer which he reportedly suffered from and managed for over fifteen years.

Speaking to the Congregation after the burial Service at Seventh Day Adventist Church field, Ekwereazu Ngwa, a visibly emotional wife of Anambra State Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano said that she had come to bury a member of her family.

She said, “The late Chukwuma was our driver and member of my family for twenty-four years who started with us since he was employed in 1992 by Fidelity Union Merchant Bank. I find it very hard to refer to Chukwuma in past tense. He epitomized hard work, perseverance, truth, and patience. He was a committed family man too and I was there when his five children were born just like he was referred to as “my second father” by my daughter in her tribute. We all miss Chukwuma and I want to assure the wife and children that they will not be abandoned.”

Mrs. Obiano noted that the Late Chukwuma was exemplary in his humility and commitment to duty and always looked out for his colleagues whom he guided on the best way to do their work well.

She also urged the children to emulate the important values set by their father and youths of the community to imbibe virtues of hard work and the example set by the bereaved.

Earlier in a Sermon, District Leader of Seventh Day Adventist, Ekwereazu Ngwa, Pastor Christopher Isaiah, extoled the virtues of service and hard work which the deceased was known for and called on the children to sustain his legacy.

He noted that the joy of a Christian over every death that occurs was that Jesus Christ by his death and resurrection had defeated death.

The Pastor commended the Obianos for the obvious show of affection and care for the bereaved family, stressing that their appreciation of the family was evident in the respect and large turnout of the government and people of Anambra State for the burial of their colleague, and their son, Late Chukwuma Ojinka and prayed for the repose of his soul.
