Pray for our leaders, Mrs. Obiano urges Anambrarians

The Wife of Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has called on Ndi Anambra to pray for leaders in positions of authority.

The wife of the Governor made the plea Thursday when she visited Isiagu, Okpuno, Amawbia, Awka and Nibo all in Awka South Local Government Area.

The tour was the last leg of her five-month tour of the 181 communities in the state.

Mrs. Obiano said that praying for leaders was important to enable them sustain the task of serving to the people.

According to her, “Praying for people in authority is not an injunction that should be ignored. I can attest that my husband, Governor Obiano and his team need prayers and likewise leaders across Nigeria and beyond to enable them carry out their mandate without distraction. Like fathers of many children, leaders need the direction and dictates of the almighty God to be able to manage the complexity of the task at hand and we all have a part to play especially the women.”

Earlier, the Governors’ wife reiterated the call for prayers at Umuawulu, Mbaukwu, Nise and Ezinator communities where she noted that God loved Anambra State was apparent in the giant strides the state was making under Governor Obiano.

She enumerated laudable achievements of the Obiano administration which had positively impacted the lives of citizens of Anambra and galvanized economic activity in the rural areas.

Such projects like the N20million Community-Choose-it-Your self-project she noted, had helped the local community economy.

Also highlighted were the cushion from hardship arising from the palliative measures of tax relief and abolishing of levies in local markets for petty traders, barrow pushers, Okada riders as well as abrogation of illegal levies in schools etc. as a positive action taken by a caring and sensitive governor who had the welfare of the people at heart.

She therefore urged the people to pray for the Governor and his team.

Welcoming the wife of the Governor at Isiagu, Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and Member Representing Awka South Constituency II, Hon. Harford Oseke, assured that the people were united in prayers for her and the Governor because “Willie is working and the people are happy.”

Hon. Oseke said that the communities started feeling the impact of government at the inception of APGA administration in Anambra with roads and community development projects which had given the people a sense of belonging.

The Deputy Speaker called on the Governor to sustain his style of opening up the agrarian communities to enable them evacuates farm products to earn living income from the sale of their products.

He also assured that the leaders of the area had taken a stand to support Obiano for a second term in office so as to complete the transformation of Anambra State.

At Amawbia, Principal Secretary the Governor, Sir Willie Nwokoye, extolled the virtues of Mrs. Obiano and her dedication to charity assuring the governor’s wife that the people of Amawbia which was the home of the governor and her-good self by virtue of the location of the Governors’ Lodge in the community, were queuing behind them with prayers and support.

Sir Nwokoye further stated her that the community turned out in large numbers to welcome her as an expression of love for her and the husband who entrusted men and women of Amawbia with responsibilities in his government and also changing the face of the community with projects like the fly-over amongst other benefits.

“I want to assure you that we stand with you and Akpokuodike and you should go home and have a good sleep always.” Sir emphasized.

In her remark, wife of National Chairman of APGA, Lolo May Oye, and a native of Amawbia said that the passion and commitment of Mrs. Obiano to the welfare of others was unparalleled.

“I have been with her in the course of this tour and have seen the genuine feeling for the welfare of the people and her effort to ensure that developments earmarked by the governor get to the designated communities”, she said.

Iyom Oye called on Amawbia women to support of Osodieme and the governor for the good of the state.

Also speaking at Nibo communitys, APGA chieftain and Community Leader, Chief Okey Nwankwo said that the efforts of the governor and his wife to develop communities in Anambra was very well known and acknowledged by all.

He praised Mrs. Obiano’s commitment to charity and expressed the hope that the community’s challenge of poor electricity supply would be solved soon.

Earlier, women leaders from the communities including Evangelist Cecilia Nweke of Isagu, Mrs. Florence Anaenyeonu at Okpuno, Mrs. Chinwe Nwanna of Amawbia, Barr Mrs. Oge Ekweozo, and Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Ogudo of Nibo in their respective addresses welcomed the governors’ wife to their community and drew her attention to the challenges faced by the women.

The community tour which commenced on November 30, 2016 at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area was concluded on April 27, 2017 at Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area.
