The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman has reiterated the fact that her administration would cooperate and collaborate with the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping as well as every other stakeholder in the ports industry.
Speaking when she hosted members of the Chamber on a courtesy visit to the NPA Headquarters, Lagos, recently, the Managing Director added that NPA was re-strategizing on its core functions with the intention of enhancing development in the maritime industry.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Mr. Andy Isichei congratulated the MD on her appointment, promising that the Chamber would give her total support so she can move the industry forward.
The President commended the Managing Director for all the innovative ideas she had implemented since assumption of duty and for the palliative measures made so far on the dilapidated port access roads.
He also commended her on the Authority’s continuous enforcement of the minimum standard requirement for trucks operating within the ports industry.
Mr. Isichei also canvased for empowering and sponsorship of Nigerian Seafarers on access to sea training programme where they would acquire requisite experience for the future.
At the event, were the NPA Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Dr. Sokonte Huttin Davies and the General Manager, Health Safety and Environment, Ahmed Yusuf while on the Chamber’s entourage are Director General, Mrs. Oby Obi, Emi Otaji, Chris Asoluka, Mina Oforikuma, Ify Akerele and Chris Anyaegbuna.
