…To consolidate relationship with N/Army
The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has sought for improved unity and collaboration amongst the womenfolk in all endeavors of life, particularly the maritime sub sector with a view to achieving improved excellence and greater efficiency towards nation building.
According to Hadiza, the sector has been dominated by the men spanning many years.
Recent developments through appointments of women at leadership levels of several corporate entities by government across the nation has further brought to the front burner the potentials in women and relative associations through networking and capacity building.
Hadiza made this statement when she played host to the Executive members of the Women International Shipping and Trading Association [WISTA] led by its President, Mrs. Mary Madu Hamman at her office at the Corporate Headquarters Marina , Lagos.
She further asserted that the NPA Management would ensure that such Women groups as WISTA were supported in the area of capacity building and networking assuring the gathering of Management’s support through sponsorship of some of its delegates to its forthcoming conference to further boost and widen their international horizon in business networking.
Earlier in her opening address, Mrs. Hamman stated that the association with branches all over the world was established in the United Kingdom about 34 years ago while the Nigerian branch came on board in 1984.
She stated that Nigeria had the largest number of members in the 14 strong Africa countries notable amongst them were, South Africa, Morocco, Mozambique, and Guinea Conakry.
As part of its commitment towards empowering the womenfolk towards self-development and reliance, the group recently embarked on the purchase of fishing boats and nets for women in Epe and Oron.
Plans are at the advance stage towards doing same for women in Agulere and beyond.
She solicited for NPA Management’s collaboration to support the sponsorship of the group’s aspirations.
In another development, the Managing Director Nigerian Ports Authority NPA Hadiza Bala Usman has reiterated the need for all Heads of Government Agencies to harness all available potentials and resources at their disposal in information dissemination.
She said that manpower development and capacity building was in line with International best practices.
According to her, developed nations of the world had over the years harnessed the vast human resources and potentials in information sharing which had helped in their development .
She looked forward to Nigeria taking such steps as quickly as possible making it a priority in nation building.
Hadiza made this statement when she led the top Management of the NPA in receiving the visiting team from the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information led by its Commandant, Brigadier General J. A Agim at the Corporate Headquarters, Marina, Lagos.
She assured the gathering that the NPA Management would ensure that the long lasting relationship with the Nigerian Army and other Government Agencies had been most cordial over the years.
She highlighted having capacity building, training and information sharing as being key in driving a nation’s full potentials
She solicited for understanding concerning the present security challenges in the country, calling on all to be vigilant at all times.
Earlier in his address, Brigadier General J. A Agim eulogized the synergy between his School and the NPA which was established in 2010 recalling that it began by the training of officials of the NPA and other Organizations in Corporate Nigeria in 2015.
He expressed delight that this synergy had been most beneficial to both parties.
He said that the school recently, was able to train Maritime Reporters on improved reportage and video recording including photography amongst others.
This according to him had impacted positively in bridging the gap between the government agencies and the general public in the area of effective communication.
