The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar on Thursday commended a team of Senior Army Officers from the Army Headquarters Department of Civil – Military Affairs (AHQ DCMA), for the enhancement and sustenance of mutual excellent Civil – Military Relations between the civil populace and the Nigerian Army through constant sensitization and awareness campaigns on observance of Human Rights and Law of Armed Conflict (International Humanitarian Law).

The GOC made the commendation when a team of Senior Army Officers led by the Director of Information AHQ DCMA, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar visited the Division for a one day sensitization campaign on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law to the officers and soldiers of 82 Division.

Major General Abubakar reiterated the commitment and determination of the leadership of the Nigerian Army to respect for human rights and constituted authorities.

He urged the team to be detailed and passionate about the campaign in their interaction with the 500 soldiers selected across the formation who were ready to listen to the lecture.

Two major highlights of the campaign were presentation on the “Professionally Responsive Soldier: A Worthy Ambassador” and the determination and sincerity of purpose of the Nigerian Army leadership at ensuring that personnel of the Nigerian Army respect human rights at all times in and out of conflict situations.

Among the officers in the team included Civilian Liaison Officer and Head of Human Rights Desk at the AHQ DCMA Lieutenant Colonel PAT Ebuk and Captain NU Ukachukwu respectively.
