…As Bishop Ezeokafor urges politicians to shun politics of bitterness
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has reassured ndi Anambra that the November 18 Gubernatorial Election will hold as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Gov. Obiano gave the assurance today while addressing congregants at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Achala, Umuchu in Aguata local government area of Anambra State.
The governor urged Ndị Anambra to get their voters card ready in preparation to vote without any form of fear.
Earlier in his sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor charged Christians to imbibe the culture of being patient and persevering.
Commending the governor for his habit of “always being around” to worship with the people, Bishop Ezeokafor praised such attribute noting that “only the people who are close to their king have the privilege of touching the king’s cheeks.”
Bishop Ezeokafor also frowned at the idea of playing politics with bitterness urging every political party to avoid acts that may lead to loss of lives.
“We appreciate the understanding with which the other party (APGA) conducted their primaries without rancour and crisis.
“Regrettably, a soul was lost yesterday during the primary election of another party. Please let’s avoid such.
“I am not a politician but have the prerogative to advise erring leaders and commend those that are doing well, Gov. Obiano is working,” Bishop declared.
Also present during the Pontifical High Mass were the National Chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ikechukwu Oye; member representing Aguata in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikechukwu Omenwa; political appointees; and APGA chieftains.
Dr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, an APC Governorship Aspirant and his team were also in attendance.
