The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the concession of the Mile 2 jetty constructed by the Lagos state government to the private sector so as to make it to be more efficient.

The Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Lagos Ferry Services (Lag Ferry) Hon. Paul Kalejaiye who made this known while speaking with newsmen in Lagos disclosed that a signpost signaling the commencement of work on the jetty would be put up.

Kalejaiye noted that the Governor had also approved that the jetty would be turned into a world class jetty saying that the Mile 2 jetty was going to have a shopping mall, a cinema and all live activities therein.

“We are going to have a modern jetty there and then it is also going to have the headquarters of Lagos Ferry Services.

“These are good things , it is on the pipeline but I can tell you that we have completed all the necessary soil test, the surveys, the town planning, we have asphalted the place. We would have commenced work there but we have to tarry so that we can get all the necessary approvals. I can tell you now that we are set to commence monumental structure in Mile 2″, he said.

While describing Governor Ambode as a man who had special love for excellence, the Lag Ferry boss appreciated him adding that he was one who believed in doing everything he did very well or not do it at all.

He said,”So, we have taken our time and the Governor is happy , he is pleased to have it concessioned so that we also did not deplete the resources of Lagos. That place has gulped a lot of money but it is going to be Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT)”.
