The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside has commiserated with the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the immediate family and the entire Police Force on the demise of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Maritime command, AIG Pius Imue.

The NIMASA DG who expressed shock at the death of AIG Pius Imue described him as a fine officer who was dedicated to the force and particularly to issues relating to safety and security in the Lagos port area.

“Let me commiserate with the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris and the entire Police Force on the death of one of its finest officers in the Force, especially now that his services are needed more at the ports. AIG Pius brought to bear his expertise in the sector and was a rallying point for all stakeholders in the industry”, he said.

Dr. Peterside further said that AIG Pius Imue showed professionalism and expertise in fighting crime in the country; and “we would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to you, your team and the entire Nigeria Police fraternity at this trying moment. We also pray that God Almighty will comfort his immediate family”.

He also used the opportunity to assure the Inspector General that the agency would continue to support and partner the maritime arm of the Nigerian Police Force and the entire force towards a safer and secured maritime domain.
