Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure that full investigation is carried out to arrest and prosecute everyone connected to the recent shooting at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Amakwa, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.

The governor gave the assurance yesterday during the blessing and re-dedication of the Church by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Hillary Odili Okeke.

Gov. Obiano who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu sympathized with families of the victims emphasizing that such heinous crime won’t happen again in Anambra.

“We are dealing with a dangerous gang war that has spilled over to Anambra State from another African country. No suspect, no matter how highly placed, is above the law.”

“Investigation is in progress and justice must be delivered”, he said.

In a related development, His Youthfulness, Comrade Nonso Smart Okafor, the Anambra State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) led a strong delegation of the Youth Council to St. Philips Catholic Church Ozubulu; the parish where a deadly shooting took place exactly one week ago.

Having cancelled activities to mark the Youth Day in honour of the dead, His Youthfulness moved to the church to further show solidarity to them as the concluding part of the 2017 International Youth Day.

The mass was also attended by a high powered delegation of the Anambra State Government led by the SSG, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu who represented the Governor.

The Holy Mass was officiated by Msgr. Dr. Patrick Anichebe EZEOBATA, the Vicar General of Nnewi Catholic Diocese.
