The ongoing effort towards the early completion of outstanding works at the Asaba Township Stadium by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration has been commended by the Anioma Youths Network for Development (AYND); a non-governmental organization.

The National Publicity Secretary AYND, Mr. Frank Oshanugor in a statement at the weekend said the effort being taken for the early completion of works in readiness for 2018 African Athletics Championship to be held at the Asaba Township Stadium was a bold step in the right direction.

The governor had in recent time promised to complete the outstanding works and spectator’s stand/tartan track of the stadium within the shortest possible time. In line with this promise, contractors had been mobilized to commence work.

The group therefore, enjoined the contractors to deliver quality job without ‘cutting corners’.

The AYND is also urging Governor Okowa to similarly address other pressing infrastructure problems in Delta State, stressing that the youths would continue to support and encourage the state government and individuals who are working for the infrastructural, agricultural and other economic development of towns and villages in Anioma area of the state.

In a recent statement, the AYND which on September 2, 2017 donated books and school materials to about 300 students and pupils of 3 Local Government Areas in Delta North Senatorial District had also called on Okowa’s administration to tackle the erosion problem and failed portions of roads in the state.
