NPA prepares staff for retirement

The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its position on preparing its workforce towards an appreciable and stress free retirement.

Addressing cross section of the upcoming set of retirees in a sensitization and awareness programme held recently in Lagos, the Managing Director, who was represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello Koko enjoined the retirees to ensure they carefully embark on future ventures so as to optimally utilize the array of financial benefits accruable to them.

She said the workshop , “Know your retirement plan”, had been carefully designed to positively impact upon them mostly because it had been perfected in collaboration with experts in the subject amongst whom were IEI Anchor Pension Managers Limited, Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Limited, First Bank Commercial Limited and select team of insurers as facilitators alongside the NPA’s Superannuation and Investment Division.

She added that it was expected that they would tap into the vast experience of the resource persons.

According to the Managing Director, the project was laid out for execution on an annual basis to help would be retirees in the areas of effective preparedness towards retirement for better management of their benefits.

The Managing Director stated that the workshop would adequately equip the retirees with skills and techniques to manage their lives effectively in the next vista.

They would also be able to key into the right options to adopt to help them invest wisely towards living comfortably in retirement.

Similarly, the Managing Director asserted that the sensitization, an interactive and transparent event was designed to further sharpen the skills of those concerned in order to gainfully run ventures and investments they step into after retirement.

She said that the retirees also would be placed on the best pedestal at effectively managing their portfolios prioritizing dividends of post public service for a better life.

The participants were made up of the pool of would be retirees and retired officers of NPA globally for the 2017 fiscal year. The event would eventually cascade to the Port locations nationwide.
