The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi has ordered the arrest of 34 persons posing as members of Peace Corps in ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects who have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba will be charged to Oshodi Mobile Court this morning at 09:00am.
The CP explained that the said group did not have any official correspondent confirming them as a constitutionally approved security agency.
He noted that operatives of the command would not tolerate such activities by any group to carry out functions or meetings in any part of Lagos state in a bid to misguide members of the public.
He instructed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to arrest anyone seen in such uniform or insignia, parading themselves as officials of Peace Corps or holding clandestine meetings and charge them to court.
He however urged residents to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
