The Baha’i Faith has said that it is working towards inculcating in the youths the techniques of working for and bringing peace among neighbors, religions and humanity at large.

A member of the Baha’i Faith community from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, Nigeria, Mr. Babatunde Dada made this known while speaking to newsmen on the sideline of the celebration of the 200th birthday anniversary of the founder of the religion, Baha’u’llah in Lagos on Sunday.

According to Dada, the religion was mainly teaching the Youths who were not yet too sunk in the decisions and powers of other religions saying that if they could impress on the youths the tenets of peace building, they would practice it and it would pay them in the long run.

“We are hoping to improve the mind of the whole mankind, can bring peace for mankind. If we are united, there will be no fighting, there will be no difference, there will be no prejudice among all the believers of different religions. That is what we intend to achieve, oneness that will bring peace for mankind.

“The difference between this religion and all the other religions is that the religion (Baha’i Faith) is uniting all past religions. Baha’i Faith is teaching oneness of God, oneness of mankind and oneness of religion. All the great religion come from the same God, the God of the Muslims is not different from the God of the Christians, he is not different from the God of the Buddhist, we all worship the same God”, Dada submitted.

He said that the adherents of the Baha’i Faith believed that all the manifestations of God in Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed had brought the same social message adding that all of them had the same social messages for mankind.

“The only difference is that the social laws are the laws that get different according to age. Like when Jesus Christ came, he modified the laws of Moses, he modified the law of marriage, the laws as regards Sabbath but the social laws are the same in all the religions. We are teaching that unity”, he added.

On whyy”, he added.

On why the religion is relatively unknown in Nigeria despite it being around for more than forty years, he said,”Don’t forget that Christianity started about 300 years after the death of Jesus Christ. We are now in the year 2017, Christianity came here about over a hundred years ago. It took more than 700 years before Christianity came to Badagry. We are even much faster because in less than 200 years, we have been able to touch most of the countries of world. We are very fast”.

Also speaking, Mrs. Martha Garma corroborated Mr. Dada’s view on the religion focusing on the youths to drive peace for all humanity initiative of Baha’i Faith.
.
According to her,”One of such with children, I have a school in Sapele, we have been there for 18 years and we teach them the tools , how to be peaceful and also how not to be aggressive and that is what the Baha’i Faith is all about. Wherever we are, we try to bring peace. Another one in respect for women because the women are the mothers and they are to teach the children how to ring peace between neighbors”.

She added that one is allowed to enroll as a Baha’i once the person turns 15 adding,” we are really interested in giving young people that option from the ages of 11 to 15. So, it doesn’t matter what their religion is, we have many youth groups here in Nigeria and around the world”.
