The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has said that it has concluded emergency work on the massive fire that gutted an industrial estate at Fatai Atere Street recently.
The LASEMA boss, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu who made this known in a chat with newsmen in Lagos said that the fire which took the agency 24 hours to extinguish called for concern about safety in work places, industries and homes.
Adesina counseled that where people had invested millions of naira into a business in an environment, they should take additional step to invest at N50 million naira on security and safety.
“Some of those things that happen in homes are what so many of them could tackle but you know, some people, when it happens, it starts small, people want to do it on their own, self help and when it fails, that is when people remember to call LASEMA and that is not good enough because you have taken enough time from the time we would have responded to that incident.
“So, we advise people, even when you think you can do it, call us first, while you are doing that palliative, we are on the way to support you. That is the essence of all these things.
“So, the incident at Fatai Atere, the Safety Commission and other agencies of government will now move in to go and do a post disaster assessment. My men are still there, we are still doing our own, we will put the totality of all of these things into account and then advise the state government”, Tiamiyu stated while saying that no casualty was recorded.
