Two years on, INEC fixes date for Anambra Central Senatorial election re-run

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has fixed January 13, 2018 for the conduct of the re-run election to fill the vacant Anambra Central senatorial election.

Recall that the seat became vacant since 2015 following the sack of Uche Ekwunife by the election tribunal.

Ekwunife had earlier been declared winner of the election by INEC.

It will also be recalled that the re-run election, which was earlier fixed for March 5, 2016, was abruptly postponed after every arrangement had been put in place by INEC, as a result of a bizarre judgement by an Abuja High Court ordering INEC to add PDP to the ballot.

Objecting to the order, which indubitably ran contrary to the judgement of the Supreme Court on the matter, Chief Victor Umeh , sought redress from the Courts. He was joined by INEC, which filed another suit objecting to adding PDP to the ballot.

However, a statement by Mohammed Haruna, a National Commissioner at INEC, said that the decision to finally fix a date follows a judgement on Monday by the Court of Appeal.

Nigeria is a wildlife. What happens to all the salary paid to Sen.Ekwunife since 2015.
Politicians are united against the poor majority in stylish and brazen looting and relooting of our collective patrimony.
