The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Chairmanship aspirant in the forthcoming National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) election slated for early next year, Mr. Michael Eto Nwilo has promised to empower members of the association in the chapter if elected Chairman.
Nwilo who made this promise Tuesday during his campaign flag off in Lagos said that while he would not make promised, if given the mantle of leadership in the chapter, he would take NAGAFF to another ensuring that no member of the association would ever beg for anything anymore in the chapter.
“Sometimes, some people don’t have transport fare to go home, you can ask them, I used to stay here till ten to make sure that none of our members is stranded here. I know I come here sometimes in the morning, some people will be begging for food. So I am promising my members that when I become the Chairman, nobody will beg for anything here again.
“I will start from the shipping companies, when you look around, you will see that we have a dry terminal here, jobs are not coming in, last time, I was with a Director in Bollore, he promised me some things I will not make public yet but I believe that I will fight for jobs because when we have more jobs, everybody will be busy. I will go and meet the CAC on their behalf, the transire they used to sign for us, I will make sure they stop delaying that transire because hey delay transire and I will make sure that if you want to do your job in KLT, by one week you will see your container in KLT.
“I will carry the people along with me. If you look around, you will see the Yorubas, the Hausas, everybody is coming to support me in full to prove to you that I am a nice guy, that I will work for them.
“I will not give them empty promises that will buy a bus, that I will do this or do that, it is when we are working that we will be able to remit our monthly remittances to the NAGAFF headquarters. We have rent that we are paying here, it is over N500,000, we will pay our rent”, he said.
He added that when elected, he will encourage his members to go and register with the distance learning programme of the Redeemer’s University in conjunction with the association at the NAGAFF headquarters every weekend.
