The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) last Friday resolved that the forthcoming National Executive Committee (NECOM) elections shall be by collegiate.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the NEC meeting and signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Dr. Kayode Farinto, the decision to conduct the forthcoming NECOM election by collegiate meant that only elected members of NECOM, Board of Trustees (BoTs), Zonal and Chapters were eligible to vote in the election.

The communiqué however said that the resolution would only affect the forthcoming NECOM elections while the incoming NECOM would liaise with the BoT to amend the constitution for future elections.

“It was also resolved that ASECO should be allowed to exercise its constitutional responsibility and conduct the forthcoming election of the east as deemed fit.

“Election timetable for both eastern and NECOM be adjusted in conjunction with the BoT”, the communiqué partly read.
