2019: Anaroke calls for rejig of 35% Affirmative Action, National Gender Policy

The founder, MMS Women of Fortunes Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke has identified factors stopping the Nigerian women from attaining their full potentials in the politics of the country.

Mr. Anaroke who was speaking at the MMS Hall of Famers’ Day & Charity Night to mark the 2018 United Nations’ International Women’s Day in Lagos recently said that Nigeria has 35% Affirmative Action and a National Gender Policy that were not active designed by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

He however argued that since the two policies were not working, effort should be made at redesigning and reinforcing them for a better result in future.

According to him,” If you ask me, womenfolk have a lot to do. We have 35% Affirmative Action and we have a National Gender Policy that is not active designed by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Those two policies are not working. So, they should sit down and see how to redesign these policies and reinforce them. Jonathan rode on the wings of 35% Affirmative Action, he tried, he achieved 20%. Buhari too rode on the same thing.

“I want to tell you, if women organize themselves and decide to vote out the President today, they can do it. They can make a female President today because statistically, we have more women who vote than men. While women are under the sun voting, men are there drinking.

“So, if you mobilize them, organize them, put them together, they can vote out any President. We need to mobilize women to be able to take their own destinies in their own hands”.
